Cookie Policy

Last updated: 16 July 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how YAMESSI ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on yamessi.com. YAMESSI is an independent fan/tribute print-on-demand t-shirt store operated from Portugal (European Union). We want to be completely honest and clear about what gets stored on your device and why — no hidden tracking and no jargon.

This policy sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data more generally. If anything here is unclear, please get in touch at [email protected].

The short version: a small number of strictly necessary items load automatically because the shop simply can't work without them (your cart, your order reference, your cookie choice and basic site security). Everything else — analytics and marketing — only ever loads after you click "Accept all". You can change your mind at any time using the "Manage cookies" link in the footer.

1. What are cookies (and similar technologies)?

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you come back, the site can read that file again — for example to remember what's in your basket or which currency you chose. Cookies can be set by us (first-party) or by other companies whose services we use, such as our hosting and security provider (third-party).

Websites also use similar technologies that do a comparable job. The main one we rely on is localStorage — a small storage area built into your browser. Unlike cookies, localStorage data is not automatically sent back to a server with every request; it simply lives in your browser so the shop can read it while you're using the site. We use localStorage for a few essential and functional things (your cart, your currency, and your cookie choice), and we describe them honestly in the table below.

Throughout this policy, when we say "cookies" we mean cookies and these similar technologies together.

2. How we ask for your consent

The first time you visit yamessi.com, you'll see a cookie banner. Here's exactly how it behaves:

3. The categories of cookies we use

We group everything into four clear categories:

4. The cookies & storage we use

The table below lists the specific items you may encounter. Where something only loads with your consent, we say so plainly.

Name Provider Purpose Type Duration
yamessi_cart YAMESSI (first-party, localStorage) Remembers the items in your cart so they aren't lost as you browse. Strictly necessary Until cleared
yamessi_cur YAMESSI (first-party, localStorage) Remembers your chosen display currency. Functional / Preferences Until cleared
yamessi_lang YAMESSI (first-party, localStorage) Remembers whether you read the shop in English or Spanish. Functional / Preferences Until cleared
yamessi_consent YAMESSI (first-party, localStorage) Remembers your cookie choice (accepted or rejected) so we don't ask again on every page. Strictly necessary Persistent (until cleared)
yamessi_consent_at YAMESSI (first-party, localStorage) Records the date/time you made your cookie choice, as a record of consent. Strictly necessary Persistent (until cleared)
__cf_bm Cloudflare Helps tell humans and bots apart to protect the site (bot management). Strictly necessary ~30 minutes
cf_clearance Cloudflare Stores the result of a security/challenge check so you're not repeatedly challenged. Strictly necessary Session
_ga Google Analytics Measures site usage in aggregate. Only set after you click "Accept all". Analytics Up to 2 years
_ga_* Google Analytics Maintains session state for a specific Analytics property. Only set after you click "Accept all". Analytics Up to 2 years
_gcl_au Google Measures ad and conversion performance (e.g. whether a visit led to a purchase). Only set after you click "Accept all". Marketing ~90 days
yamessi_order YAMESSI (localStorage) Keeps your last order and its payment reference so the confirmation page can show you the payment details again. Stays in your browser only. Strictly necessary Until you clear it

Exact cookie names, providers and durations can change over time as these services update their tools. We review this list periodically and update it when we become aware of changes.

5. Third-party cookies

Some cookies are set by trusted companies whose services we use to run the shop. When these companies process data through their cookies, their own privacy and cookie policies also apply:

We don't control the cookies these companies set through their own services, and we recommend reviewing their policies if you'd like the full detail.

6. How to manage or withdraw your consent

You're always in control. There are two easy ways to manage cookies:

Because our first-party items are stored in your browser's localStorage, clearing your browser's site data for yamessi.com will also remove your saved cart, currency choice and cookie choice.

7. "Do Not Track" signals

Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is currently no agreed industry standard for how sites must respond to it, so — like most websites — we do not change our behaviour based on the DNT signal alone. That said, it makes little practical difference here: by default we load no analytics or marketing cookies until you actively choose "Accept all", which already gives you that protection.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time — for example if we add a new tool, or a provider changes how their cookies work. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we may ask for your consent again through the banner. Please check back occasionally.
